On arrival you will be met by our car rental partner who will transfer you to their premises located 5 minutes from the airport.

Once the formalities have been completed, you will take the road in the direction of your charming hotel located in Tartane. Once settled, you will begin to discover the flavours of Martinique at the table of the young Martinican chef Vladimir François, who will introduce you to his fine cuisine of Creole intuition and Caribbean influence.

You will first discover the beautiful forest of Coeur Bouliki. This place is the green lung of Martinique. It is the ideal place to experience a first swim in the river. The
The rest of your day will be spent on a farm where you will discover the Bèlè tradition, a Martinican culture inherited from the slaves, combining music, dance and art of living.

During this day, you will taste the flavours of Creole cuisine "as at home". Renaud, your host, will welcome you for a lunch based on the flavours of the past.
You can try the famous dipping sauce or the traditional ti-nain morue, not forgetting the local pastries served at snack time.

For your first day in the North, you will take the Route de la Trace. This old road, opened by the Jesuits, winds its way through a sloping landscape in the heart of the tropical rainforest. There are 1700 plant species, including 200 ferns. When you arrive in Morne-Rouge, you will discover the farm of Anaïs who will share with you her secrets for the cultivation of bourbon vanilla.

At the aperitif time, you will visit the Depaz distillery and its castle in the middle of the sugar cane fields. In the afternoon, you will dive into the history of the mythical city of Saint-Pierre, a city of art and history destroyed in 1902 by the eruption of Mount Pele. You will then be able to reach your hotel along the Caribbean coast and its succession of picturesque fishing villages.

The authentic and wild North Atlantic

Change of scenery and direction of the North Atlantic. To begin with, a break at Mr. and Mrs. Ragal's, who will show you their cassava hut. In the Ragal family, cassava processing is a family affair. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will discover all the stages in the production of cassava flour (peeling, grating, pressing, cooking), as well as its transformation into kassav and pellets to prepare the ferocious avocado. You will participate in the making of specialities.

After driving along the coast of Macouba you will visit the JM distillery, the smallest on the island. You will then continue your journey to Grand-Rivière, a small picturesque fishing village at the end of the island, nestled between the mountains, the sea, the rainforest and its rivers known by canyoning enthusiasts. It is not conceivable to visit Grand-Rivière without stopping at the local inn to taste the seafood and river crayfish specialties, the "z'habitants".

Day at sea with a fishing family

Simon, a fisherman for more than 30 years, and his wife Betty, also a lover of the sea, have decided to share some authentic moments with you. On the programme: a walk
by boat, discovery of the mangrove, fishermen's anecdotes, swimming in the white sea, joy and good humour in a family atmosphere. Those who wish to do so can be introduced to seining, a traditional fishing technique in Martinique.

In addition to being a lover of the sea, Betty is an outstanding cook. Her pleasure is to cook the products of her own fishing and to sublimate them through original recipes. She offers you her homemade dishes, accompanied by cocktails and liqueurs that are also homemade. This experience takes place in small groups of 10 people maximum. It is possible to privatise it. In this case, lunch is served at the table on the fishermen's pontoon. The dishes offered are also of a higher category (lobster, lambi, sea urchins, real Martinique ambrosia).

After an early morning swim to enjoy the magic of the place, leave for a discovery of the Anses road. You will reach a succession of beaches, each as typical as the other, where it is possible to observe fish and turtles. You will also visit many places of the island's heritage which are worth a visit.

You will head south to Maison La Mauny. There, visit the premises with the cellar master. You will then meet Prisca in the gardens of
the distillery for a Creole cooking workshop followed by a tasting.

If you like atypical experiences and good authentic West Indian cuisine, you will be delighted. In the heart of a distillery in the south of the island you will prepare West Indian dishes and have lunch,
then visit the distillery and taste its rums! Between tradition and creativity, Prisca, member of the Toques blanches de la Martinique, will open her culinary notebook filled with
easy and colourful recipes. This experience takes place in small groups of 8 people maximum. It is possible to make it private. (Prices on request)

In the afternoon, the turquoise waters of the southern beaches of the island are on the agenda.

The cocoa route

You will extend the gourmet experience of the previous day by immersing yourself in the world of Martinique's cocoa. On the programme for this day: meeting with a cocoa producer
on his farm and workshop where the beans are transformed into chocolate. Then, rendez-vous in an exceptional place for a rum and chocolate master class. Lucien is a cocoa producer. He will welcome you on his farm and tell you the history of cocoa in Martinique. He will explain how to obtain the precious beans. You will then follow him into his workshop, where you will participate in the different stages of chocolate making. You will then leave with your cocoa stick, which you will be able to taste at breakfast the next day.

During this workshop, you will discover exclusive Lauzéa chocolates made in Martinique. These creations invite you to experience the flavours of the Caribbean associated with
chocolate. You will enter a gustatory waltz mixing tradition and innovation and discover maracuja (passion fruit), guava, cinnamon or chilli in a different light. The old rum accompanying each piece will enhance them.

You will take advantage of this last day to visit the magnificent botanical garden of Balata and its church, a perfect replica of the Montmartre basilica. But before you go there,
you will make a gourmet stopover at the Pâtisserie du Boulevard, to taste the traditional Martinique breakfast and its famous butter-chocolate bread.

From now on, you will understand why Jean-Baptiste du Tertre said that Martinique is the island of ghosts. The magic will have already worked, it is certain, you will be a ghost in your turn!

Climate and equipment

The weather in Martinique is fine all year round with temperatures around 25°C. The wet season, when hurricanes are more frequent, is from September to November. The high season starts in December.

Health

Be physically fit for hiking and have a good mosquito repellent!
No particular problems, but beware of mosquitoes for those who are sensitive.
