Comfort

As well as offering excellent value for money and being located in the heart of each region, the accommodation on offer is committed to sustainable tourism, and some is CST certified.

Our partners are very active locally, but don't always have the time to go through the time-consuming and administratively-intensive certification process. We are, however, their allies in promoting their efforts.

Meals are taken in local hotels or restaurants.

There is no shortage of fresh produce in Costa Rica, but the staple diet is rice and black beans, which are served at every meal. Bread is rarely served, and a natural drink is included with every meal.

Climate and equipment

Costa Rica has a tropical climate, and the tour passes through regions with different weather patterns. In the so-called dry season, rainfall is low but not non-existent. Tropical showers can occur any month of the year.

The country and its nature live by the rhythm of the sun; getting up and going to bed early is the local custom.

Departures are often around 07:30. Visitors will be back at the hotel by 17:00-17:30 to enjoy the gardens and facilities. Dinner is usually served at around 19:00-19:30.

Health

No vaccinations are compulsory, and the country's health situation is satisfactory.

Water is drinkable everywhere, except in some very remote areas. The network of hospitals and dispensaries run by the local equivalent of Social Security covers the whole country. The care provided is of excellent quality, the techniques used are modern and the doctors well trained. San José also has private hospitals of a high standard.

Travellers on special medication should bring their own medication.

Formalities

French nationals do not need a visa for a stay of less than 90 days, whether they hold an ordinary, service or diplomatic passport.

However, they must present a passport in good condition, valid for at least one day beyond the planned date of exit from Costa Rica.

It should be noted, however, that some countries through which travellers may pass require their passports to be valid for at least 6 months after the planned return date.
