Solidarity stay in Senegal

Eco-volunteering

A 14-day trip combining the discovery of Senegal's small coast with authentic excursions and a humanitarian mission as a volunteer in an orphanage.

Each morning you will have 4 hours of voluntary work to do with the children.

There are several age categories, but the focus will be on childcare.

In the afternoons, we offer a varied programme of rest, beach time and excursions to discover the surrounding area: villages, markets, the island of Gorée, boat trips to the mangrove swamps of the Siné Saloum or the Somone lagoon. You'll be immersed in the heart of Senegal in a less touristy area and in contact with the locals for an authentic and unforgettable experience.

The Babao Camp' hotel and its friendly staff will do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

To find out more about the programme, please contact us: sara@humantrip.fr

Every programme can be customised, everything is possible, and we are here to listen to you so that your stay is as close as possible to your wishes and motivations.

Climate and equipment

The tropical climate divides the year into two main seasons:

  • November to May is the dry season, with temperatures around 25°c
  • June to October is the rainy season with temperatures in excess of 30°c

Health

For health reasons, only the yellow fever vaccine is compulsory in Senegal (1 injection for life).

There is a preventive treatment for malaria, but it's fairly costly. Check with your doctor or visit a vaccination centre, and you'll have all the recommendations you need to prepare for your trip. An anti-mosquito spray will be advisable at the end of the day and you will sleep in a bed with a mosquito net.

For your own health, you should not drink tap water and should wash your hands regularly.

The route is still very safe, and you'll always be in very hygienic conditions - the hotels and restaurants on offer have all been checked.

Our opinion

Having experienced this programme and stayed in this region several times, we can tell you that this trip is an authentic option for discovering the country off the beaten track. The locals are very welcoming and you'll be able to share real life moments with the people you meet as the days go by.
