Arrival at Colombo airport in the morning.
Welcome and assistance at the airport.

Drive to Negombo.
Colombo > Negombo Airport - 8 km, approximately 20 minutes drive.

Depending on the time of arrival, you will visit the Negombo fish market.
Then in the afternoon, arrival and installation at the inhabitant's home.
Check-in is usually at 2pm unless the flight arrives very early in the morning, when an earlier room can be made available.
Overnight stay with local people.

Day 4

Sinharaja, Tissamaharama

Afterwards, we depart for a Tuk Tuk ride through the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, one of Sri Lanka's most important natural habitats. This majestic rainforest with its great diversity of species was rightly designated a World Heritage Site in 1989.

Departure to Tissamaharama in the late morning (116 km, about 3h15 driving time).

Day 5

Tissamaharama, Yala, Ella

Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure to Yala (21 lm, about 30 minutes drive). Then visit Yala Reserve by 4×4. Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest National Park in Sri Lanka.

Then, late morning departure to Ella (109 km, about 2h30 drive).

Arrive in the afternoon and climb Mini Adams Peak.
Check-in and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6

Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy

Breakfast at the hotel.
In the morning, head to Ella station to catch the train to Nanu Oya (09:23 - 11:58, indicative time). Then, departure for Kandy via Nuwara Eliya.
(Ella > Nuwara Eliya - 55 km, about 1h45 drive then Nuwara Eliya > Kandy - 80 km, about 2h45 drive).

On the way to Kandapola, you will visit a tea plantation and factory called "Liddesdale".

In the afternoon, you will visit Kandy's most prominent landmark, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth of the Buddha, located next to the old Royal Palace.

At around 17:00, you will attend a classical dance performance typical of the Kandy region.

Settle in and spend the night at a local's house.

Day 7

Kandy, Peradeniya, Negombo

Departure to Negombo. On the way, you will visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden - 6 km from Kandy, about 20 minutes drive. It is one of the most beautiful in Asia. It is famous for its profusion of tropical and aromatic plants, orchids and palm trees.
(Peradeniya > Negombo - 96 km, about 3 hours drive).

In the afternoon, arrival and installation at the inhabitant's home.
Overnight stay with local people.

Day 8

Negombo, Colombo

Return to France

Return to France

Breakfast (depending on the time of the return flight to France).
Transfer to Colombo airport (3 hours before flight departure).

Your journey to "one of the most beautiful islands in the world" (Marco Polo) ends here...

There is a maximum of two or three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms side by side,
There are no air-conditioned rooms, but there are fans,

Climate and equipment

The tour is suitable for the period from November to April, but can be done all year round with minor adjustments. Sri Lanka has a tropical climate. Bring warm clothing for the mountainous region and light clothing for the rest of the trip. Beware that January can record very cold temperatures in the highlands. The cultural triangle can be visited all year round. Winter is also the high tourist season.

Health

Be in possession of a certificate of good physical health.
No vaccinations required.
Hepatitis A vaccination and anti-malaria treatment recommended.
Water: drink only bottled mineral water.

Formalities

PASSPORT & VISAS
Since 1 January 2012, travellers wishing to stay in Sri Lanka for less than 90 days, including tourists, are only allowed to enter the country if they have first obtained an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).
Application for ETA authorisation is compulsory and subject to a fee. It can be applied for online at www.eta.gov.lk or at a Sri Lankan embassy if the planned stay in Sri Lanka is less than 30 days. The ETA does not constitute a right of entry: on arrival in Sri Lanka, visitors must carry a passport valid for more than 6 months, a return ticket and proof of means for the duration of their stay.
