Human Trip takes you on a discovery tour of Haiti, a little-known destination with a rich heritage. This eco-volunteer trip will give you the chance to discover this magnificent country and the warm welcome offered by its people. You'll be immersed in the families and share some unforgettable moments with them! Eco-volunteer activities will also be part of your stay, so you'll be taking part in planting coffee seeds and setting up tree nurseries. A useful, enriching and warm holiday awaits you!

Flight Paris - Port au Prince

Departure from Paris with scheduled airline Air Caraïbes. Direct flight from Orly to Port au Prince. Transfer and accommodation in Aquin.

You will be met by our partner Fonhsud, who will collect you by 4×4.

Day 2

ASYLUM, AQUIN

Meeting with the NGO and exploring the site

Meeting with members of Fonhsud and presentation of their actions.

Transport by 4×4 and meeting with members of the L'Asile solidarity mutual (micro-credit), exchange meal on site, walk along the river and discovery of the environment.

Discover Aquinas and relax

Discover the town of Aquin. Here you can visit the port and meet the fishermen.

In the afternoon, you can go for a swim or simply stroll around the town.

Evening and overnight with the locals.

Hiking in the mountains

You'll set off for a day's hiking in the heart of the mountains. You'll be able to discover the local crops and fruits as well as the magnificent scenery.

Day 5

CAMP PERRIN

Discover the town of Camp Perrin

Discover the town of Camp Perrin

Discover the crops irrigated by the Avezac canal (built by a Frenchman in 1765) and visit the town on the banks of the Ravine du Sud river. Afterwards, you will meet Mrs Mousson, who will explain the consequences of deforestation on the watersheds of Pic Macaya (2,447m), followed by the dried mango workshop.

CAMP PERRIN

The Kounoubwa cave

There is also a walk along the Avezac canal. Afterwards, you can take part in activities at the Laroche au Pont mill and discover the Kounoubwa cave, a 30-minute walk from Camp Perrin. The visit is accompanied by a specialist guide.

CAMP PERRIN, MANICHE

Immersion in Maniche

Immersion in Maniche

Depart on foot from Camp Perrin for the Saut Mathurine waterfalls. On the way, discover the local fruit and vegetables, followed by a picnic and a refreshing dip in the falls. Afterwards, we'll discover coffee and cocoa farming in Bouffard with the local farmers.

Sports day: hike to the Geffra jump

Sports day: hike to the Geffra jump

Hike to the Geffra jump, on foot or by mule, followed by a picnic break and a swim.

MANICHE, CAYES, AQUIN

Leisure activities in Cayes

Leisure activities in Cayes

Departure for Cayes, the country's 3rd largest city. Stopover in St Louis du Sud to admire the Fort des Oliviers, and a stopover in Cavaillon will also be on the programme.

Afternoon relaxation at Gelée beach, a vast expanse of natural 100%.

Return to Aquin and overnight in a local home.

Festive immersion with the local population

Festive day with the local population (discovery of customs, local dishes, etc.) followed by an evening of entertainment (dancing, singing).

AQUIN, ILE-A-VACHES

Excursion to Pirate Island

Departure by boat for Île à Vaches.

You will be welcomed and accommodated by a fisherman who will show you his trade and then take you on a tour of the island, known for having been a pirate hideout.

Day 13

AQUIN, GROSSE CAYES ISLAND

The fishing village

Depart Aquin by boat for Ile de Grosse.

You'll arrive in a secluded, bucolic fishing village. On the programme: discover the island and fish for lambis (edible shellfish), followed by a refreshing swim.

Return to Aquin for the night.

Day 14

AQUIN, PORT SALUT, PORT AU PRINCE

Direction Port au Prince

Departure for Port au Prince. On the way you will stop off at Port Salut for a swim and lunch on the beach.

Return to Port-au-Prince, where you will spend the evening and the night.

Day 15

PORT AU PRINCE

Getaway in the capital

Getaway in the capital

During this day in the capital, you will visit a craft cooperative and the iron market (food and crafts).

You'll also set off to discover Kenscoff (market gardening on the heights of Port au Prince at 1,900m).

In the evening, return to Port-au-Prince for the night.

Day 16

PORT AU PRINCE, PARIS

Last day on the island

Last day on the island

On your last day in Haiti, you'll have the chance to visit the Haitian National Pantheon Museum to learn more about the island's history.

You will then be taken to the airport for your return flight to Paris.

Climate and equipment

Haiti has a tropical climate. The temperature all along the coast is around 27°C, with a slight variation between winter and summer. At the top of the mountains, the temperature can fluctuate between 18º and 22º C. There are two rainy periods in the region: one from April to June and the other from October to November.

Health

Be in possession of a certificate of good physical health.
Recommended vaccinations: Hepatitis A, B and typhoid.
Anti-malarial treatment recommended.
The Pan American Health Organization reminds us of the importance of immunity against measles (combined measles-mumps-rubella vaccination).
Water: only drink bottled mineral water. Give preference to cooked foods over raw, and wash your hands regularly and carefully before each meal.

Formalities

PASSPORT & VISAS
For your trip to Haiti, you will need a passport that is valid for six months after the return date of your trip. You are required to have a visa: on an ordinary passport, entry visas valid for 90 days are issued free of charge when crossing the border.
On arrival, you will have to pay a tourist tax payable in foreign currency: either 10 US dollars, 10 Canadian dollars or 10 euros.
