In Malayalam, Kerala means: 'The Land of Coconut Trees'. It is also called 'The Residence of God' due to its incredible beauty. Kerala is also the cradle of Ayurveda, which originated over 5,000 years ago.

Originating in the Indian tradition, Ayurvedic medicine is considered to be the oldest holistic medicine in the world.

THE AYURVEDIC ART OF LIVING Ayurvedic medicine involves treating the patient, not the disease. After a personalised Ayurvedic assessment, the practitioner determines the type of treatment to be used. Based on dietetics, phytotherapy, ayurvedic massage, meditation, breathing, yoga or chanting, it aims to restore and maintain the balance between your body and your mind...

This trip is dedicated to well-being. It's a mix of yoga practice, learning and discoveries in the surrounding area, which will allow us to immerse ourselves in Indian life. You'll stay at Maithrimandir Homestays for the duration of your stay, enjoying morning yoga classes, study and practice time, and local cultural and/or nature outings to discover local life and customs.

Why this Ayurvedic cure?
For the 10th anniversary of the Shakti association, we're breaking away from our weekly sessions... and heading off to India to practise! During this trip, I'm putting myself at your service by accompanying you on this Ayurvedic rejuvenation cure. I want you to experience the benefits of practising yoga twice a day, combined with the virtues of the Ayurvedic cure, and enriched by meeting an authentic yogi master in his own ashram.
What am I?

Length of stay

From 11 January to 24 January 2026

In the heart of Kerala,
Where time slows down,
A journey begins,
Between palm trees and blessed rains.
Under the song of the Indian waves,
Your mind is at rest,
To the rhythm of ayurveda,
The body reinvents itself, the soul rests.
Every smile,
Each spice shared,
Is a doorway to the other,
And a step towards yourself.
From Trivandrum to Varkala,
Let yourself be guided as the days go by,
In this journey where the essential
Rediscovering yourself... quite simply.
Namaste - and welcome to Human Trip.

The Maithrimandir Charter

Respect for the person: The real way to help is through empathy. Your caring presence and your stay are already very important to us. It is important not to upset our way of life. No money or gifts for children or adults (if you wish to make a donation, please hand it in to the office and it will be distributed anonymously to the recipient of your choice).

The spoken word Make sure that your words do not disturb the Indians' way of thinking and living. Indians are sensitive to certain subjects such as sexuality, caste, politics, religion, economics, cleanliness and noise, and are aware of these problems. There's no need to hurt them with criticism or reproach. You should also avoid painting an idyllic picture of the West.

Unselfishness We aim to bring about healthy encounters based on friendship and mutual aid: that's why it's important not to encourage the Indians to take financial advantage of this encounter. This would upset the balance of the village.

Detachment: The aim is not to seek psychological reward or personal gain through an act of giving, nor to take advantage of people's difficult situation.

Social behaviour Advice for women: To respect tradition, it is advisable to imitate the behaviour of Indian women in the street towards men (don't respond to their advances: (hello), don't say hello to strangers). Don't smoke in the street, and avoid going out alone at night in the village. Advice to men: Indian women are not free, they cannot meet the expectations of westerners, so respect them. To say hello, join your hands in front of your heart and say NAMASTHE (Don't touch the woman). Above all, do not try to kiss either man or woman.

Respect for traditions: Correct clothing, especially in the village: no shorts or short skirts, light trousers recommended.

Cheerful atmosphere: Living conditions in India are not the same as in France. It is therefore necessary to accept this situation in order to get the most out of your stay. Any difficulties encountered on the ground should be quickly explained to the host family. The most important thing is to enjoy being there and sharing this moment with the Indians.

Self-control: Keeping calm, accepting others without wanting to transform them, appreciating what they are.

Letting go: Trying to take each day as it comes, losing sight of your usual preoccupations, your certainties, changing your way of thinking, of apprehending the world and others. Facing up to freedom, taking the risk of venturing into the unknown.
