The hotels selected by Humantrip differ in size, range, location and atmosphere, but both strive to provide a "true African experience". The hotels are integrated into the villages as opposed to large complexes cut off from local life. Local methods and materials are used in their construction. The history of Fumba reflects this spirit. The villagers allowed and helped to build it in a site originally in the bush, far from other tourist establishments. Some villagers are still employed by Fumba. Guests are invited to walk around the village, either alone or with one of the villagers, which allows a better understanding of the local culture and daily life. The establishment also actively participates in local life by supporting the village school and providing training for its employees.
